Preventing kidney stones is the subject. I’ve shared separate articles about each ingredient found in Stone Away.  This particular post will bring all of those together for a more concentrated view of all the benefits that come from the herbs found in Stone Away.

Let’s start with the main ingredient Citric Acid Citric acid helps proper functioning of the kidneys and may even prevent the formation of kidney stones. Its alkalizing properties and the ability to bind to calcium are useful in treating other kidney ailments, too. As an antioxidant, citric acid can neutralize the damaging effects of free radicals, which are unstable compounds that trigger the growth of cancerous tumors. Experts say that citric acid mixes with minerals and metals easily, facilitating their absorption in the body. It has been widely known that citric acid helps in the absorption of calcium into the bones.

Hydrangea Root is the next ingredient. The root contain mineral compounds of magnesium, phosphorous, sulfur, and calcium, which chemically break down and change calcium oxalate and calcium carbonate stones in both the kidneys and gall bladder. In medical studies using Hydrangea root, performed on kidney stone sufferers by Dr. Edward Shook, stones were passed without any damage to the ureter and were found to be smooth and round. Shook explained that once the sharp edges of the stones are dissolved, all pain, hemorrhage, and inflammation subsided.

And the story just keeps getting better and better.

Asparagus Stem has an abundance of an amino acid called asparagine, that helps to cleanse the body of waste material. An alkaline food which is rich in protein but low in calories and carbohydrates. It is an excellent source of potassium, folate, vitamins A, C and K, and traces of vitamin B complex. A good source of dietary fiber, asparagus is also rich in niacin, phosphorus and very low sodium. And certainly most impressive is that it is one of those few vegetables that actually has the calcium and magnesium in the ideal ratio of 2:1. The diuretic and alkaline properties of asparagus help prevent or dissolve kidney stones. It helps break up oxalate and uric acids formed in the kidney.

Uva Ursi was a common treatment for bladder and related infections. Uva Ursi benefits the bladder and can help with conditions such as cystitis, nephritis, water retention, liver ailments, and chronic diarrhea. It contains a compound called arbutin, a glycosylated hydroquinone, which has the ability to drain excess water from cells, promoting an antiseptic effect on the kidneys. During its excretion, arbutin produces an antiseptic effect on the urinary mucous membrane and can therefore help assist with the urinary tract infections. Uva Ursi has anti-lithic properties that help in dissolving crystals not just in the kidneys, but throughout the body as well. It has, therefore, been used for arthritis and other joint problems.

Dandelion Root contains Vitamins A, B-complex, C and D are found in the leaves. Dandelion also provides the minerals iron, potassium and zinc, and has diuretic effects — it promotes increased urine production — and also replaces potassium that may be lost in the urine. Native Americans used dandelion extract to treat a variety of conditions, including kidney disease, skin disorders and digestive problems, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center. Dandelion roots have antiviral effects and, combined with the herb Uva Ursi, which has antibacterial properties, may also help decrease frequency of urinary tract infections in women. Dandelion root soothes inflammation and helps dissolve kidney stones. Drinking dandelion root tea continually during an attack can help break up and pass the kidney stone,
